Episode 40

Michael Kerr | How to become a humorous speaker

Do you ever want to use humour in your presentations but feel a bit too scared? It can seem daunting. Things seem to either be funny or not, and easy to get wrong. Why is it that the North American spelling of humour drops the 'u'? I want to start a rallying call to put the U back into North American humour... or maybe I'll just take a quick nap first?

My guest this week is a highly experienced speaker who is known for bringing humour and delivering exceptional and engaging talks. He's a hall of fame speaker and he travels the world helping companies find the benefits of humour and helping people to stop taking life too seriously.

We got to chatting about the theory of humour and what makes things funny but most importantly, how you can start bringing some humour into your own presentations.

Enjoy the listen but look out for the YouTube episode, as Michael got up to a little mischief that you'll only see on the YouTube edit.

Michael says “Life is too short to work in a soul-sucking, fun-sucking workplace, and life is too short to take yourself seriously!  If you take yourself too seriously the irony becomes that no one around you ends up taking you remotely seriously!”
